Comments in response to my Quora answer and feature on

About a month or so ago, I decided to write an answer to a question on Quora;
"What does it feel like to go from physically unattractive to physically attractive?".  At the time, I had little to no followers and wasn't expecting anyone to read my response. Whilst writing, I literally thought this will almost like a diary entry. I did, however, expect to receive negative feedback; if not a little negative feedback, then a lot. This is the internet.
That evening I wrote an answer on a whim and to my surprise people started voting up my answer, and they continued a much faster rate than I expected.  One minute it was at 500 and a few hours later it was at 800 upvotes. People started sending me positive messages and sharing their own personal stories. I was touched,  the only real reasons I wrote my answer was to express myself and share my ideas, but I was not expecting so many people to connect to it.
Some people have expressed that they felt I was not experienced or insightful enough to have been to be featured on Slate. Since then, a Victoria's Secret model and pornographic film star have written answers to the question to share their stories. While I may not be a model or one who seeks to "put my looks to use", I truly appreciate the time that some people have taken to read my story and the messages I have received from men and women about how the article moved them. Despite the fact that creative work interests me, it was not in my intention to attract attention with my answer or use "looks" as the base for my ideas or beliefs.  Being beautiful or being considered beautiful is great, but I wanted to share the perspective of a person who doesn't want their appearance to overshadow their identity. I was well aware writing the answer that I would not please everyone with my perspective,  but I know it takes all types to make a world  and believe our experience in it is only richer because of that.
